Studies for a short time at Manchester and Liverpool schools of art and at the Ecole Des Beaux, Paris. Founded the Society of Modern Artists, Manchester in 1912. Served in France 1914 - 19. Lived in France for some years but also worked in Cornwall and Sweden 1933 - 34. Exhibited at the Royal Academy and many works at the Alpine Club, London.

Rare Salford School Oil Painting of the Original Rovers Return Public House. At the time Manchester's Oldest Pub and since immortalised in Granada T.V's Long Running Soap Opera "Coronation Street". The Building was demolished in 1958 to make way for redevelopment. Oil on Canvas , measures 9" x 13" in original frame, glazed. Inscribed, signed and dated 1943 to lower left (partially obscured by slip) also indistinctly signed, inscribed and dated verso.
