Specialities: Hold a two day antiques, fine art, collectors items and 20th Century design sale every 6 weeks followed the following week by a general sale
- Description: Hold regular auctions of Antiques and Fine Art, Collectors items and 20th Century Design. Each sale is divided into specialised categories, which includes ceramics and glassware, Oriental works of Art, sculpture, militaria, musical instruments, toys, treen, books and ephemera, antique maps, oil paintings, watercolours and antique prints, clocks, barometers and scientific instruments, watches, jewellery, silver, rugs, textiles and furniture.

CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE OF GOODS FOR SALE
1. As Scarborough Fine Arts are Auctioneers, all goods will be deemed to be for Sale by Auction unless otherwise stated and that the Vendor acknowledges the acceptance of the terms below. Full Conditions of Sale will appear in the auction catalogue.
2. Scarborough Fine Arts (“the Auctioneers”) reserve the right to sell each lot as set out in the catalogue or as in their absolute discretion divided or joined with any other lot of the same ownership.
3. All lots are put up for sale subject to (a) any reserve price imposed by the Vendor or (b) the right of the Vendor to bid personally or else by any one person who may be the Auctioneers. If any bid is disputed the Auctioneers decision is final and binding on the Vendor and the Auctioneer may, in his absolute discretion, offer the lot for re-sale at that auction. The Auctioneers reserve the right to sell at one bid below the reserve in certain circumstances.
4. The Auctioneers’ act as agents only and shall not be responsible for any default by the Purchaser or the Vendor. The Auctioneers shall be entitled to rely on any statements made by the Vendor as to the authenticity attributed genuineness original authorship date age period condition or quality of any lot. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing the Auctioneers shall not be liable to pay the Vendor until payment is received by the Auctioneers from the Purchaser.
5. The Vendor shall duly indemnify the Auctioneers against any claims in connection with any goods sold by the Auctioneers on the Vendors behalf.
6. The Auctioneers shall be entitled at their sole discretion and without giving a reason therefore to refuse to accept payment by cheque for any lot or lots unless before the lot or lots are removed the cheque is first cleared and accepted through the drawers Bank.
7. The Vendor authorises the Auctioneers to deduct commission from the sale proceeds at the rates below, plus VAT on such commission and acknowledges the right of the Auctioneer to retain all the premiums payable by the Purchaser.
TERMS OF SALE BY AUCTION
Our Commission for selling: 15% on the hammer price. Minimum Fee £12.50
Commission charge for unsold lots: 10% on the reserve price
Withdrawn Lots: A charge of 10% of the estimated value will be made should
instructions to withdraw any lot/s arrive after the catalogue has been printed.
Minimum charge £12.50 per lot.
VAT: All commissions and charges are subject to VAT at the standard rate for
Vendors resident in the UK.
Damage Loss Warranty in accordance with the provisions as set out below.
Proceeds from sale payable 21days from sale date.
BUYERS PREMIUM
17.5% on the hammer price, plus VAT is payable by the Purchaser (except in
respect of the sale of special category items).
BUYERS PREMIUM
The Auctioneers, whilst taking all reasonable care in handling the property on
behalf of Clients, accept no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind however
caused, the property being accepted at the Vendor’s risk.
Nevertheless property accepted for sale and taken in at our premises will carry a
Damage Loss Warranty pending sale, unless instructions are received to the
contrary, at the cost of the Vendor against all risks of physical loss or damage
subject to the damage loss warranty terms usual in our business, and for the
amount estimated by the Auctioneers at their absolute discretion to be the
saleroom value of the property, until either the passing of the risk to the buyer or
the collection by the Vendor(s) or his/her/their carrier(s) of the property. The rate of
damage premium, payable by the Vendor, is £2.00 per £100 of the hammer price
or where the property is unsold £2.00 per £100 of the reserve price or the estimate
by the Auctioneers of the saleroom value of the property. (The minimum damage
loss premium is £2.00).
