Loyal North Lancashire Regt., on brooch bar, some edge knocks and bruises to DCM and minor edge bruises to War Medal, all sometime lightly polished, otherwise fine or better (4), photocopied newspaper article (1915), stating '...it was during the attack at Tanga (British East Africa, now Tanzania) early in November, last year (Battle of Tanga, 3rd - 5th November, 1914) that he merited the medal by his gallant conduct in the field. During this particular fight, he was wounded no less than six times...' & Bulgaria, Soldier's Cross for Bravery, very fine (5) [the medal group in the following lot awarded to J. Ridgway, the son]
