  • OLD MASTER OOP W/ UNIQUE PROVENANCE, CASING -The Holy Family, 16th c. smaller version of the composition by Barent Van Orley currently in the collection of the Museo del Prado, depicting Mary holding the Christ child, who turns with his arm around his mother's neck and reaches for Joseph, who holds a basket of fruit with an illegible inscription, 8 3/4" x 7 1/4", on elm panel, with some retouching, with replica Italian frame, but with the original unique handcrafted wooden case worn under the coat of a Mr. Hurel, who brought the painting into this country in the 1890's from France, insisting it was a Raphael from the collection of James II, the lot includes many original newspaper clippings from 1897-1912, receipts and letters of evaluation from that time up to the present. : ALL ESTIMATES ARE IN US DOLLARS $10,000.0 - $20,000.00
