  • AN AMBER AND SILVER GILT TANKARD The cover with finial of a boy with a sword, the pierced thumbpiece with portrait medallion, the scroll handle with carved caryatid figure and claw terminal. The body gilt lined and carved with birds, fruit and scrolls. The foot with a frieze carved with animals including leopard, unicorn, stag, bull and bear. The base set with a medallion carved in relief with an eagle eating fruit. Probably Konigsberg, early 17th century.; approx. 26 cms high, base 12.75 cms diameter. Extensive restoration including wood cover.
