Scarce 1920/30s Art Deco German tennis racket/ figural nude pocket match striker manufactured by Kawee Germany – the lighter is a miniature version of a silver tennis racket on one side while the other side features a wonderful embossed semi nude female figure. The handle conceals the removable striker and makers details are stamped to the convex wedge “Kawee 390 and Alpacca” – alpacca is a nickel silver finish.

J J Baeyero, Complimentary Bronze Medal, 1883, by Luigi Gori, Florence, bearded bust right, without legend, rev legend in seven lines within wreath, 70mm; Agostino Magliani (1824-1891), Financier, Senator and Minister, Bronze Tribute Medal, 1884, by Giovanni Vagnetti and A Gennarelli, bearded bust left, rev seated figure of Rome, with shield of Italy, inscribing column, 62mm. Extremely fine. (2) Magliani first became minister of finance in 1874 in the reconstructed Depretis ministry and in 1880 he carried through the abolition of the grist tax, which took effect in 1884, the year of this medal.
