signed on the reverse "M E Clarke" watercolour 31 x 43cm (12 x 17in). Mrs M E Clarke was mother of both Sir Geoffrey Clarke and Sir Reginald Clarke (1876-1956), Commissioner of Police, Calcutta. In 1829 , Sir Henry Bohle started The Old Brewery on the outskirts of Mussoorie . He had a licence to brew beer, which soon become a favourite all over the cantonments in India and further afield. Although the brewery was shut down in 1834 , Sir Henry's brother in law Sir John Mackinnon started up the brewery again in 1850 with Mackinnons Brewery as its new name.. Unframed and with some foxing.
