Sidney Cooper RA/1858/Presented to W. Ouless RA 18(90?) oil on canvas 87 cm by 68 cm; 34 in by 26 1/2 in framed Thomas Sidney Cooper, best known for his paintings of sheep and cattle, was born and spent much of his life in Canterbury. He set up a number of Alms Houses in Canterbury, and the Beaney Institute in that city has a large collection of his works. Walter William Ouless R.A. (1848-1933), born in Jersey, was a well known portrait painter of the late nineteenth century, and later a landscape artist. He entered the Royal Academy school in 1865, becoming a full member in 1881.
