A Japanese Meiji Period porcelain lantern vase, finely decorated in underglaze blue with nine cranes in flight around a blazing sunrise, with a continuous landscape of crashing waves and pine trees below, the wide tapering neck with a band enclosing two mythical beast amongst scrolling clouds, unmarked, 19 by 35.7cm high.
