An attractive and large mid-18th century iron mortar, dated 1647, probably English, in the Dutch manner

Cast within a broad band ‘CLEMENT READ 1647’, with multiple cords, and two scroll-ended lug handles, 40cm across handles, 34cm diameter, 32.5cm Provenance:  Christopher Bangs Collection - Stock Ref:9065-34
